Accountant/Bookkeeper - Fort Wayne Mad Ants (Fort Wayne, IN)

SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the day to day, monthly and annual accounting functions for the Mad Ants and will also assist the Corporate Accounting office of PS&E in Indianapolis.  This position will perform a variety of accounting and business functions and must be very detail oriented, able to work with accounting software and excel and be able to communicate effectively. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

Include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Assist with monthly, quarterly and year-end account analysis and reconciliation of financial statements.

  2. Prepare and update quarterly financial statement projections.

  3. Assist with preparation for financial statement, preparation of league financial statements, preparation of league game assessments for payment and respond to any league inquiries.

  4. Assist with preparation of cash flows and cash forecasting.

  5. Assist with preparation of annual budgeting process.

  6. Scan and code all A/P invoices for processing by Corporate Accounting office.

  7. Supervisor merchandising and reconcile daily/game day sales.

  8. Prepare analytical reports at the request of the Corporate Accounting office and President. 

  9. Manage the promotional file in conjunction with the Corporate Partnerships.

  10. Assist with fixed asset records and compute monthly depreciation.

  11. Prepare team cash per diems for distribution.

  12. Manage deferred revenue for Ticketing and Corporate Partnerships.

  13. Receive incoming payments and code for general ledger entry.  Enter select daily cash receipts/disbursement and monthly/standard journal entries in the general ledger.

  14. Interact/assist with the ticket department with the Ticketmaster system.

  15. Review and approve game settlements.

  16. Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university.  Two years accounting related experience preferred.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret instructions and reports.  Ability to write reports and correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Manager, Clients, Customers, and the general public.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    Knowledge to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as basic mathematical operations, making change, analyzing costs, and figuring statistics.  Ability to reconcile accounts.  Must be highly proficient in excel and able to learn other software systems quickly.

    REASONING ABILITY:

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret directions.

    PROBLEM SOLVING REQUIREMENTS:

    Employee must make independent decisions regarding general ledger and ticket accounts and the proper coding for each.  Employee must have the ability to answer questions regarding accounts receivable/payable and questions from outside vendors/customers.  Employee must exercise discretion and independent judgement when dealing with confidential information.
