Media Relations Intern - Fall 2017 - Indiana Pacers (Indianapoils, IN)

Interns in the Media Relations Department will assist in the coordination of all media relations aspects for the Indiana Pacers.  Interns will maintain news clip files, prepare information for visiting team media, assist in game night department functions including: media check-in, media area setup and obtaining postgame quotes.

Responsibilities:

1.                         Assist in game-day setup of media work room and work credential table pregame.

2.                         Acquiring postgame quotes from visiting coaches and/or players.

3.                         Assist in statistical/historical compiling of information.

4.                         Updating current statistics in Excel-based documents on a daily basis.

5.                         Assisting in other departments when needed.

6.                         Compiling news clips daily from internet sources, emails, newspapers, magazines, etc.

7.                         Prepare packets/information for visiting team media

Criteria and Qualifications include:

  • Junior, senior or graduate level student in media/public relations, communications or journalism.
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills
  • Interviewing experience
  • Availability for long hours/home games
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced environment and ability to multitask
  • Computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Basketball knowledge a plus
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure

Game Operations Internship - Fall 2017 - Indiana Pacers (Indianapolis, IN)

Interns in Game Operations will assist in the coordination of talent bookings for Pacers and/or Fever home games; assist with the Pacers and Fever mascots on their appearances; assist with fan van appearances as needed, assist with invoicing and contracts as necessary for appearances and talent bookings; and assist in coordination and on-floor execution of game timeouts, contests, game acticities and events prior to, during, and after games.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the coordination of talent bookings; contracts and invoices as they pertain to our NBA and WNBA mascots
  • Assist in the coordination of Fan Van bookings and confirmations
  • Assist with attending Fan Van and Mascots appearances
  • Assist in the coordination and on floor execution of game timeouts; contests; game activities nad events prior to, during and after the game
  • Sit in on all Game Operations meetings and Marketing meetings.  Interns will be given various assignments and projects to work on including, but not limited to, interacting and exchanging information with other NBA and WNBA teams.
  • Assist with concourse set-up/tear-down before and after games
  • Perform general office duties as assigned.

Criteria & Qualifications include:

Corporate Partnership Internship - Pacers Sports & Entertainment (Indianapolis, IN)

The Corporate Partnerships Intern’s main responsibility is to provide support in sponsorship-related areas of the business. This position will also gain valuable experience in the basketball industry, learning game operations, event planning and sponsorship execution. The intern will work closely with Pacers Sports & Entertainment front office staff at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the division at all Indiana Fever and/or Indiana Pacers home games through general set-up responsibilities

  • Ensure photos of signage and partner promotions are visible during events

  • Create work schedules for game day activation

  • Assist in assembling credentials, lanyards, Tickets and Locker Room Restaurant passes

  • Undertake projects/activities as directed by the Corporate Partnerships Activation Managers, Sales Directors and Executives as required

  • Ensure the effective and timely delivery of all sponsorship projects and initiatives

  • Understand and comply with all Pacers Sports & Entertainment policies, procedures and requirements

  • Must be available to assist at all Team home games and community events
  • General assistance as required by the Corporate Partnerships Team

Event Production Intern - Pacers Sports and Entertainment (Indianapolis, IN)

SUMMARY:

Pacers Sports & Entertainment has an opening for an intern pursuing a degree in Event Management or Hospitality. This position will report directly to the Event Coordinator and is responsible for assisting with projects for the Utility Set-up, Conversion, and Housekeeping departments. This position will be required to work long and unusual hours at times based on the event schedule and the requirements of the show/event including evenings, weekends, late nights (3rd shift) and/or early mornings.  The candidate filling this position must have excellent organization and communication skills.

  1. Participate and assist in the planning, coordination, and implementation of meetings and events at Bankers Life Fieldhouse 

  2. Assist the Event Production staff by producing weekly meeting sheets that are distributed company wide

  3. Act as the Event Coordinator during assigned events

  4. Assist the Event Production staff with administrative needs (i.e. scheduling meetings, generating instruction sheets, filing documents, etc.)

  5. Assist the Event Production staff with game day responsibilities

  6. Assist promoter and clients to ensure smooth event operations

  7. Assist the Event Production staff with placing vendor orders

  8. Assist event patrons to ensure they have an enjoyable experience

  9. Assist other Facilities Operations divisions as needed – Utility Set-up, Changeover, etc.

  10. Any other duties as assigned
